WHY I WANT TO BE IN SEOUL RIGHT NOW FOR COOL DESSERTS!

So my friend Sanae is studying abroad right now in Seoul. Instead of seeing studying photos though, all I see are photos of delicious and yummy desserts from her instagram! AND IT HAS BEEN TAUNTING ME! Why don't we have it here, in SoCal?! Most of you probably could guess that I am a sucker for desserts and just seeing all of my friend's yummilicious photos is totally not helping me! It's been extremely scorching hot here in SoCal and I don't just settle for any kind of ice cream. I want the cool and unique ice cream dessert treats I've been seeing in Seoul!

So! Here are some places that I either have never seen/been to before when I myself studied abroad in Seoul or also places that might be newly established that are all over my newsfeed these days! I thought I'd share with all of you and if any of you are in Seoul, EAT FOR ME so I can vicariously enjoy it!

*note: all photos below are taken from Google Search images and do not belong to me.

REMICONE - GAROSUGIL (GANGNAM)
ADDRESS: 강남구 압구정로14길 24, Sin sa dong, Seoul, 135-890, South Korea

This place serves grey colored cotton candy with a little cute thunder bolt placed on top all over milk ice cream. It's looks like a cute poofy thunder cloud! Great for photos and probably yummy for the tastebuds! I definitely have this on my To-Go list for when I visit Seoul next year! I want to eat thunder clouds!

Here is the foursquare website for this place:

Here are some of my fave photos from the link above + google image search:

POPCONTAINER (팝컨테이너) - SINCHON (NEAR YONSEI - EDAE)
DIRECTIONS: Sinchon exit #2 towards u-plex / megabox / ehwa university. Pass by Krispy Kreme and Olive Young stores.

So I actually have passed by this place numerous times. I always wanted to go in but unfortunately I didn't have anyone interested to check it out with me at the time and I also was too hesitant to go alone. And you don't really do things alone in Korea so I would have felt pretty left out and awkward. Anyways, recently, in the popular/related posts on Instagram I saw a photo of a tall Oreo Bingsu (shaved ice) and my eyes fell in love. I clicked on it and found out its from Pop Container! The place that I never entered while studying abroad 2 years ago! WHY DIDN'T I GO! I should have forced some friends of mine to go because it looks amaaaaaazing. I mean, who doesn't want a tall tower of Oreo Shaved Ice served inside a small measuring cup container ?! Next time I go to Korea, I am totally forcing someone to go try it with me! Someone, eat with me! ^___^

I found a superb blog post about this place! Check it out here:

^ This blogger also has some really awesome and interesting posts about Korean life too! Whoever HelloSihui is, thank you for the awesome posts!

IT WAS THIS VERY SIGN RIGHT HERE, THE RED AND WHITE THAT CAUGHT MY EYES EVERYTIME I WALKED DOWN THE STREETS OF SINCHON / EDAE. WISH I WENT INSIDE THOUGH!

BASTILLE THE CEREAL BAR - YONGSAN (ITAEWON)
ADDRESS: 용산구 이태원로19길 8, Seoul, 140-863

The liquid nitrogen ice cream trend has taken over Korea! I discovered recently from a language exchange partner that there is a new liquid nitrogen ice cream spot in Hongdae that just opened this past summer (2014). But if you're not in Hongdae, there's another cool spot called Bastille in Itaewon! And it looks freaking awesome because you can still see the smoke from the liquid nitrogen reactions in your ice cream cup! Isn't that awesome...?! Forget Creamistry and The Ice Cream Lab! Fly me over to Seoul please!

Here are some of my fave photos taken from the foursquare:

SNOW SPOON - HONGDAE
ADDRESS: 마포구 어울마당로 70 (홍대점), Seo gyo dong, Seoul, South Korea

Have you been to Pop Bar (Anaheim) and The Frozen Bar (Garden Grove)?! This Snow Spoon place takes the ice cream popsicle concept to another level. The closest place I can compare this to is The Ice Bar in West Covina because that places executes intricately designed popsicles. It looks fancy and pretty there. At Snow Spoon, the popsicles are SUPER CUTELY DECORATED too! Think kawaii foods. That's what I thought when I saw photos! The irony is that I actually have stepped inside this place before 2 years ago. However, I don't remember them selling popsicles! Only frozen yogurt which I wasn't really digging at that time. But with these awesome popsicles, there's a new reason for me to check it out next time!

Here is the foursquare website for it:

And here are my fave photos from the above link!

That's all folks! I know there are tons and tons of awesome dessert places in Korea. Some of my favorites was HOMILPAT which was in Edae (behind Yonsei and near Quickly's). I also loved MilTop which is in Hyundae Department Store. There's also a yummy place called Tomo's in Sinchon which has delicious waffle ice cream desserts and Oreo smoothies! There's just too many that it's hard to name them all! But the places that I mentioned here are either new or places that I saw but never went to but are personally definitely trending on my newsfeed right now! Hope this post inspires some of you guys to want to fly to Korea with me to try these awesome desserts!
