Did you know that the very first ever Philly's Best restaurant was opened in Fountain Valley, CA? Wow! Apparently, the original owners of this restaurant chain are native Philadelphians and wanted to bring the authentic flavors to their new home sweet home once they moved to Southern California. The chain has been operating since 1992, opened by Bob and Andrea Levey. Now there so many more locations including franchised locations. The Santa Ana location just recently changed ownership, and the new owners hope to make the store a bigger part of the community.
*Disclosure: I was invited to Philly's Best Santa Ana-Tustin Ave. as a media guest to try out their menu. No worries though, because all opinions are mine and won't be swayed by the free stuff I got. I like to keep it real, yanno?
TJ, the new owner of the Santa Ana location on Tustin Ave., was first introduced to Philly’s Best in 1992 when the brand’s very first location opened in Fountain Valley. It was love at first bite for TJ, Jamie and their three kids and has been a family affair ever since. It is the Sokoll family’s hope to embark on something special together, while teaching their children about hard work and commitment, along with real-life lessons in financial responsibility.
“We want our guests to know that we are a family-run business and to really feel those personal touches when visiting our Philly’s Best,” said Jamie, TJ's wife and co-owner. “Besides serving the most authentic Philly Cheesesteaks in California, it’s our goal to welcome our guests like family and make sure their visit to Philly’s Best is one of the best parts of their day!”
I've had the pleasure of tasting several different menu items from Philly's Best a few times. I am personally a huge fan of Philly's Cheesesteaks, especially after visiting Philadelphia myself and eating one during middle school! I remember the juicy and meaty taste, and the cheesier and oilier the better. LOL
Anyway, Philly's Best is a great place to satisfy the cravings. And if you're not into beef, they also have a version made with chicken!
I also love the options they have such as adding pepperoni, pizza, mushrooms, and more!
The sandwiches are jam-packed with lots of meat always freshly made to order! MMM! And they have a self-serve bar of condiments and toppings that include jalapenos, bell peppers, and more.
I know they always have a $5 deal on national cheesesteak day, which is definitely something y'all should take advantage of. The sandwiches are big and filling!
