ON TUESDAYS WE EAT TACOS @ TACOS DE OJO SPORTS CANTINA - HUNTINGTON BEACH (BELLA TERRA)

ADDRESS:
7811 Edinger Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647
(714) 892-3852
(inside the Bella Terra Mall next to Johnny Rockets)

mMMmmMMm CARNE ASADA TACOS. The tortilla is a tiny bit bigger than usual hole-in-the-wall Taquerias and did not rip easily!
There Salt and Pepper shakers are in BEER BOTTLES. Way to go recycling!

THE SPICY ELOTE LOCO (CRAAAAZY CORN!)
MY FAAAAAVE. WE GOT 4 AL PASTOR TACOS AND EACH HAD JUICY PINEAPPLE PIECES THAT MADE THE FLAVOR OF THE TACO STAND OUT!
LOOOK LOOK AT THAT HUGE PINEAPPLE SLICE! DO YOU SEE IT ? xD
THEIR CHIPS & SALSA BAR
HONESTLY THE SAUCES COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. NOT THAT SPICY... AT ALL...

THE SAUCE THAT CAME WITH THE TACO (NOT AVAILABLE AT THE SALAD BAR) IS ACTUALLY SURPRISINGLY GOOD AND SPICY!

WE COULD GET AS MANY CHIPS AS WE WANT.... ^__^

This past week on Taco Tuesday Kev and I went on our weekly Tuesdate. At first we were going to go to the Buffalo Wild Wings at Bella Terra but the wait time to get a table was 40 minutes or more. I didn't understand how they could say this because honestly... THERE WERE SO MANY TABLES with no one seated there... We also asked for the wait time for take-out order and it was also 40 minutes or more.. WTF. No way BDUBS. You were not getting my money that day... I don't wanna wait that long for wings at that place! The service is never fast anyways so I knew that once seated down, it'd take like 20 more minutes to ORDER...I don't know why I put up with BDUBS sometimes...

Instead, we opted for TACO DE OJO. Taco of eye? Well.. I definitely want to see delicious tacos on my plate... so WHY NOT!

When we entered the store, I was really surprised by how GIGANTIC the store was. It was a lot bigger than I had expected with many many seats and even a karaoke room and all that jazz. They have karaoke nights and while we were eating dinner they also had a Trivia Game thing going on where the owner asked random trivia questions and whoever got the most correct would win a prize. Cool! This restaurant really cares about engaging with their customers!

We ordered 6 tacos total: 2 carne asada tacos and 4 al pastor tacos. (They also have a typical variety of other tacos too) We also ordered the elote loco (mexican corn with butter and chili powder and cheese) and helped ourselves to the complimentary bottomless chips and salsa bar!

  1. The Carne Asada Taco $3.50 ea.
    • the meat was tender
    • good portion & size
    • however nothing really special
  2. The Al Pastor $3.50 ea.
    • this was the best and I'm glad I ordered more of these
    • it was actually spicy ! I looove spicy
    • it has big chunks of pineapple which made the overall taste better
      • spicy & sweet!
    • the meat itself was also tender and cooked well
  3. Elote Loco
    • this was DELICIOUS! but too expensive in my opinion
    • it was $3.50 and I felt like I could have had a better one from the Mexican Corn Man/Lady
    • it was a huge corn though so that was good to share with my bf
  4. Chips & Salsa
    • the chips were crispy
    • the salsa was okay
      • would have liked it to be spicier or more fresh tasting
  5. Coke
    • I usually wouldn't comment on soda...but this place serves very flat soda
    • although they have the fountain machine, they pour it out into pitchers
      • OF COURSE THIS WOULD MAKE THE COKE FLAT TASTING
      • at least it was free refills... and well... didn't make us feel so gassy... ?
OVERALL:
  • This place does not serve HORCHATA
    • Even the waiter said," I know, it's not a real Mexican place if we don't have horchata."
    • what a disappointment
  • This place is expensive for a Taco Tuesday joint.
    • if you were to come here for the restaurant itself, then I'd say the pricing is decent for their other items.
    • On Tuesdays though, they do have a deal for Tacos.
      • It would be $1 off each taco which would make it $2.50
      • Since Kev and I wanted to take advantage of the Yelp Deal online for this place ($10 for $20) we had to buy the tacos at regular price
  • The customer service was decent, not too attentive and not too slow
  • The tacos itself though were delicious, especially the al pastor.
    • I'd claim it's one of the best al pastor because it was cooked well and the pineapple chunks make it better!
  • I'd probably not go here again though because I'm only interested in the Tacos and the price is too expensive for me.
