2014 ASIAN GARDEN MALL NIGHT MARKET - WESTMINSTER (PHUOC LOC THO)

GOTTA GET YOUR MEXICAN CORN!! (THEY DO NOOOT USE CANNED CORN. IT'S ALL FRESHLY GRILLED AND SUCH!

NUI XAO BO (VIETNAMESE STYLED BEEF PENNE)
SUPPOSEDLY THIS HOT SAUCE IS CLAIMED TO BE BETTER THAN SRIRAICHA. IT IS BROUGHT OVER FROM VIETNAM. I ACTUALLY DISAGREE AND STILL PREFER SRIRAICHA...

I ALSO GOT RAU MA (PENNYWORT JUICE) FROM THE BAMBU BOOTH!
MOZZARELLA GRILLED BEEF
CHUOI CHIEN (FRIED BANANAS)

BUOI NGOT (SWEET GRAPEFRUIT) THAT IS ALREADY PEELED!
ONE OF MY FAVORITES! BANH TRANG TRON (MIXED RICE PAPER SALAD) WITH QUAIL EGGS, MANGOS, BEEF JERKY, PEANUTS, FRIED ONIONS, ETC.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE EATING SNAILS ?! ^__^
THIS IS AT THE HAPPY BEE BOOTH. SO MANY GOOD ITEMS!! THE RAMEN BURGER IS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE BEST I'VE HAD! (BETTER THAN THE 626 OC NIGHT MARKET IN MY OPINION)

TRYING TO SHOW OFF THE BOW HEADBAND THAT I MADE WHILE READING A BOOK WITH SOME CHILDREN...

AND WE WENT HERE AGAIN !!

Please excuse my super asian-y poses if it makes you cringe a bit. I love to ...Spread Peace! haha

I believe the night market at Asian Garden Mall (Phuoc Loc Tho) started a few years ago and due to it's success it has been continuing every following summer! I'm glad I got to enjoy it again this year because it has come back with interesting eats! It even seems more crowded and parking is a bit harder to find too! But it's summer...and lively nights are what I live for.

I'm going again later tonight (7/14)! If you see me, say hi! ^__^

Alright, so here is a food recap:

  1. Rau Ma (Pennywort Juice) from Bambu:
    • $5
    • not too sweet
    • not too much ice
    • overall: yummy! but if you don't like drinking GRASS then this is NOT the drink for you. I used to haaaaaaaate this drink but it grew on me after all these years. Kevin didn't really like it.... haha
    • update: this is actually a RIP OFF! don't buy it from the Bambu booth when you can just buy it inside Asian Garden Mall. There are different sizes and the price is cheaper !! You get more bang for your buck!
  2. Nuoc Mia (Sugarcane Juice)
    • rip off
    • $3
    • allllll ice
    • I recommend to buy it inside Asian Garden Mall because there are different sizes and you'll get more for your money!
  3. Beef Penne Pasta (Nui Xao Bo)
    • $5
    • not bad!
    • comes with salad as well and complimentary Kool-aid
    • however, it's not OMG YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE food. Maybe that's just my opinion though because my mom makes this for me often...
  4. Mozzarella Grilled Beef (Bo Pho Mai)
    • $3 for 4 pieces
    • I really liked it!
    • pretty unique too!
    • Kev said it was like cheesy moo-ping (Thai dish)
    • update: They've been changing the price of either 2 for $6 or 2 for $5. Try to tell them that you heard 2 for $5 !
  5. Ramen Burger
    • $7
    • worth it!
    • I honestly think this is far better than Toro Burger's version and the one sold at the 626 OC Night Market. Why?
      • it's cheaper! Toro Burger in Santa Ana sells it for about $10-$11 and the 626 Night Market at OC Fairgrounds sold it for $8 and both are puny in comparison
      • The meat patty was sooooooooo big and juicy!
      • they add BACON. who doesn't love bacon? especially when it's already part of the deal!
      • The noodle part actually was crunchy (they call it the crunchy ramen burger) and it stayed together well! good job Happy Bee!
  6. Banh Trang Tron (Rice Paper Salad)
    • $5
    • I loooooved it
    • This is cheaper if you just make it at home though but quite a hassle so I think it's worth the price
    • The amount is not too little and not too much
  7. Fresh Corn on the Cob or in a Cup
    • $3
    • delicious! You can either get the Mexican style (chili powder, cheese, butter, etc) or the Asian style with the green onion oil thing (mo hanh). I love both!
    • I got it in a cup so it would be easier to eat
  8. Pork Bun "Taco" (I wasn't sure what they called it but I'm gonna call it that...)
    • $5 for 2
    • actually yummy!! I love how the bun was sooooooooo soft!
    • They have a fried wonton wrapper inside and of course the pork meat with a mustard-y mayonaise-y sauce. It was delicious!
  9. Papaya Salad (Goi Du Du)
    • $5 for a decent portion
    • the sauce is whatevers though.
    •  My friend bought it because she wanted to eat it. However, I've had better at other places.... (my mom)
  10. Tornado Potato
    • $5
    • this is aiiiiiiiiiight. It is not crispy so if you like soft potato chips on a stick, this is for you.
    • I personally prefer mine crunchy
    • They do not have that many flavor powders to choose from but I got mine in sour cream & onion AND bbq!

**Note: Prices are based off of my memory so I'm sorry if any of them are wrong! Remember to bring cash y'all!
