At Tancca In Rowland Heights, You Get A Shovel To Eat Your Drink

I recently found out about this cool boba shop called TANCCA located in Rowland Heights and had to check it out. THEY GIVE YOU SHOVELS.

SUCH CUTE MINI SHOVELS!

And you use the shovels to eat the cream! Wahh! So cool!

How to properly drink their cream-topped drinks here is shown through a diagram thingy on their wall!

The industrial theme decor in their store is pretty cool. Too bad the lighting is dim so it was hard for me to take any spectacular photos.

Oh yea, CASH ONLY!

Even though I don't even live nearby and who knows when is the next time I'll even be back but I had to get a stamp card anyway because the drinks were so good!

Here are some photos of their menu below!
Prices are around $5 for a drink!

So actually, Kevin and I ordered these two drinks. One had Tiramisu cream on top and the other had Cheese cream. Apparently these don't need a straw. But we also didn't automatically get a shovel. I had to ask about the shovel and they said it's not these drinks.

Then which drinks come with shovels?? I just thought any drink topped with cream automatically had one. They should add markers on their menu !!

Anyway, these are the yummy drinks that we got.
Left is UJI MATCHA WTIH CREAM CHEESE!
Right is the RED JADE MILK TEA WITH TIRAMISU CREAM!

The Tiramisu cream also comes with these mini chocolate balls.

The lids are meant for drinking without a straw!

TIME TO DIG IN! LITERALLY!

The cream is ultra thick but surprisingly very delicious and goes well with the drink!

OMG THE CHOCOLATE BALLS! They sorta tasted like mini crunch balls.

Snapchatting as always.

ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE PLACES!
I am kinda overly excited about this place and for the past few days have been mentioning it to people.

Have you tried Tancca yet? I don't even know the right way to say the name. Is it "tan-kah" or "tawn-kah"?! Or... "Tan-cha"?! I may never know but one thing I do know for sure is that these drinks are so good!

MY FIRST TIME WITH CHEESE DRINKS WAS IN KOREA
I definitely had my doubts. When I first went to Sharetea ever in my life in Korea (yes, SEOUL KOREA) the menu had boba drinks with "cheese". It literally had "치츠" as part of their drink menu and well, I was intrigued so I ordered it. It came traditionally with a straw and was covered with a plastic lid sealed with heat. The kind you poke with a straw. Anyway, it seriously tasted like cheese. And it smelled like cheese. And it didn't go too well with the tea.

That was in 2012. Apparently the Sharetea here in CA doesn't serve "cheese" but they do have cream.

TANCCA ALSO SERVES CHEESE DRINKS!
Fast forward to last week when I found out about this heavenly creamy place. The cream is thick. SUPER THICK! It is so thick and creamy that if you order the cheese cream, it will definitely taste cheesy. Similar to my experience in Korea at Sharetea.

The difference is the way you drink the cheese! It comes in a cup with a half-open lid. You tilt the drink into your mouth at a 45 degree angle so that the cheese and tea land on your taste-buds separately but at the same time. So, don't mix / shake the drink! This concept reminds me of Koi Cafe in Singapore where you indeed drink it like this. The idea is that both the cream and tea are tasted together but it becomes smooth and savory instead of mixing the drink and the cream loses it's flavor and punch.

Another similar place that suggests to drink this way is Milkbox in Tustin and Mission Viejo! They have a drink called the "Mustache" that is a tea drink topped with almond cream! It's called "Mustache" because you end up with some white cream above your lips resembling a mustache / milkstache.

THE TIRAMISU PUFF CREAM IS A MUST-TRY TOO!
Anyway, Tancca's cream delivers a powerful punch of flavor that is best eaten with a shovel too. I love this shovel and saved it for my collection of random knick knacks. LOL

Aside from Cheese cream toppings, they also have TIRAMISU! OMG! This was even better than the cheese in my opinion! I love how it's sweet and creamy and tiramisu-y.

If you've never tried this concept, I highly recommend this place! Tancca can get crowded and lines may get long but service is pretty fast. They don't have many seats though so if you see one remember to snag it quick!

REMEMBER TO ASK FOR THE SHOVEL
And if they don't have shovels, ASK FOR IT!

I went a few days ago and was disappointed that they ran out of shovels. They were serving spoons instead. I ain`t using a spoon. I came for the shovel! Next time I go I will be calling beforehand if they have the shovel or not haha.
