PREVIOUS REVIEW (2013) HERE: GEEKING OUT @ GUNDAM CAFE

 SEASONAL MENU!

 THE GUNDAM LATTE . YUM.
WHY IS MY FOREHEAD SO BIG. AHHHHHHHHHH. BUT ANYWAYS I LOVE THIS LATTE!

HERE IS A MUSHY PHOTO OF ME AND MY ASSISTANT. LOLS ^__^
NEXT DOOR TO THE GUNDAM CAFE IS A LITTLE GUNDAM "TAIYAKI" STAND WHERE THEY SELL GUNDAM SHAPED TAIYAKI WITH VARIOUS FILLINGS!

WE DECIDED TO TRY THE CHICKEN CUTLET! THIS IS NEW ACTUALLY... COMPARED TO 2 YEARS AGO AT LEAST SINCE THIS WASN'T AVAILABLE THE LAST TIME I CAME HERE! AND BY THE WAY...THIS WAS GOOD! WISH THE TAIYAKI WAS CRUNCHIER THOUGH...

USE THIS MACHINE TO PAY FOR THE FOOD FIRST AND THEN GIVE THE TICKET TO THE CASHIER!

 SO SAUCYYYYYYYYY !

I re-visited the Gundam Cafe in Akihabara since 2 years ago (2013)! Not much has changed about the interior but I'm glad they changed things up with the menu!

Kevin and I studied the menu carefully, as we wanted to get something that screams "Gundam Cafe". Getting something normal looking just wouldn't cut it whenever you're going to a themed cafe so we got a dish with a big Gundam Taiyaki (no filling, just all flour) swimming in a dish of meat sauce pasta. I also got a cafe latte with a Gundam art on top! The total was probably around $15 USD for the two items but worth it if you're a Gundam fan. However, if you care more about taste you're better off going to a ... well ...regular restaurant  Read(Food/Experience Recap below).

After taking lots of selfies with the food and eating, we headed over to the Gundam Taiyaki store next door! They sell Gundam shaped Taiyaki (Japanese cake usually shaped like a fish) and I just had to have one! The store had new items on the menu that I've never seen before from 2 years ago! The chicken cutlet looked good so we chose that one. It was yum, but maybe a bit too saucy and we got our hands dirty. Thank goodness we were prepared with wetnaps ^__^. Also, the flour was a bit thick so even I got tired of eating it T__T.

FOOD / EXPERIENCE RECAP:
  • Gundam Pasta
    • Honestly I forgot what the exact flavor was called... T__T but I think it was like Roast Beef meat sauce flavor or something
    • Delicious
    • Gundam Taiyaki was disappointing
      • thought there would be filling! But there wasn't... just all flour...
      • good to dip with the pasta sauce though!
    • 980 yen (about $8 usd)
  • Hot Gundam Cafe Latte
    • Basically horrible
    • I think they just use a machine that spits out the coffee and then use a Gundam stencil to put cocoa powder through for the art
    • Bland / bitter
    • 390 yen (about $2.50 usd)
    • Only good for photos / looks
  • Gundam Taiyaki - Chicken Cutlet
    • YUMMY!
    • Totally worth it
    • 300 yen (about $2.50 usd)
    • Gets messy and flour is overwhelming
    • Wish the Taiyaki itself was freshly made. It was just sitting there and they cut it open to put the chicken and veggies in
  • They have a seasonal menu that rotates and a regular menu!
  • Store Experience
    • There is English Menu!
    • Japanese menu is always the more complete version though so always look at both!
    • Workers are friendly and can speak a bit of English
    • I love how they have baskets under the chairs for you to put your belongings in!
    • They show episodes of the Gundam animation on the tv!
    • There's a merchandise section where you can buy cool souvenirs
    • NO WAIT! Maybe we were lucky ? There was no wait when I went in 2013 either ^__^
    • GUNDAM EVERYWHERE.
  • Recommended for Gundam fans!
    • Don't go here if you want 5 star gourmet food though because it ain`t that at all.
